“A horse loves freedom, and the weariest old work horse will roll on the ground or break into a lumbering gallop when he is turned loose into the open.”
~Gerald Raftery (author, poet and journalist)
I spent the day at the barn, mucking out the stall and taking care of “Romanze” (romance), the horse I am leasing. Instead of riding I decided to turn her loose in the covered arena. It’s always a delight to watch her run freely and tonight I tried to take a couple of pictures. Unfortunately it was a little too dark and the photographs obviously didn’t turn out right – out of focus etc. I liked these two shots anyway because they caught the “in-motion” feeling so well : ) and somehow this is exactly what I meant to preserve on film.
Isn’t it great to see someone enjoy their freedom so greatly? Jumping, running, kicking – Bucking of all frustrations accumulated and really dig the time not being bridled by the everyday circus.
I think many in this day and age have forgotten how important it is to do what my horse just did tonight. I am not saying people should go outside, run around and buck like a mad person – or maybe they should (?) – but just be who they are and forget what other people say, might think or expect of them for at least a little while. There are many people on this planet fighting for the freedom we are already being granted. We shouldn’t waste it by distorting ourselves to please others.
So, what are you waiting for? Take off that stupid bridle for once and run, run, run – the freedom is yours!
