Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2012: Recap and Blog Hop

The “Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2012”: I’ve never participated in anything quite like it. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m definitely game for next year’s swap 🙂 So, before I go on I want to thank Kat Sloma for organizing all of it: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

In the form of five postcards I’ve liberated my art into the world…

…in return I received six postcards from other artists doing the same.

During the weeks of the swap I could feel how my inspirational batteries were being recharged with each card I found in my mailbox. I got to look through other artists eyes – and through the viewfinder on Pam Bowers’, Kara Monroe’s and Kat Sloma’s camera.  Seeing other people’s works always shows me new ways of look at the world around me, leads me to disscover new paths of creativity and points out other ways of expressing oneself. For instance: If it hadn’t been for Cris’s card from Ohio I’d have never known what zentangles are and would’ve never tried it myself. I ordered a little booklet on it from amazon and am now tangling like crazy; it’s so much fun!

Well, I can’t thank everyone enough, especially Jan, Kate, Pam, Cris, Kara and Kat; for liberating their wonderful art into the world, for recindling my creative energies and for driving me to tackle new projects! Thank you all!!!

Now, get on hopping 😉 here is the link.

I hope everything works okay.

Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2012: Last two through the finish line…

Hello everyone,

This week I received my last two postcards from Kat’s faboulous art postcard swap.

Original photo by Kara Monroe

A magnificent photograph by Kara Monroe from the US, who’s also *thumbs up* a postcrossing member and mail artist. For this particular swap she decided to stick with photography even though she likes to explore many other fields and forms of art too. Check out her fabolous blog at www.iwannabemewhenigrowup.blogspot.com  🙂

Original photo by Kat Sloma

And this is the sixth and final postcard from Kat Sloma herself. I think the photograph is simply mesmerizing. Here is the link to her site again: www.kateyestudio.com . Maybe you are even able to attend one of her photography courses or workshops. I think she also offers some online too.

The swap has been so much fun! I can’t wait for the upcoming blog-hop and of course next year’s swap 🙂

Liberate Your Art 2012: Number 3 – Let’s tangle with Cris!

“You can do anything one stroke at a time.”

Hello everyone!

Today I found my third postcard from Kat Sloma’s postcard swap in my mailbox. It’s from Cris in Ohio, a zentangle/zendala artist. You don’t know what a zentangle is? I didn’t either until I visited Cris’amazing blog Tangeld Up In Art. To quote her:

“Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, fun relaxation artform using repetitive patterns. It helps increase focus, attentiveness, and creativity. It’s also fun. You don’t have to be an artist. No drawing experience is necessary. Really!”

Cris is a certified Zentangle teacher and if I could I’d love to attend one of her classes but as it is I have to make do with some books on it from the library or amazon. It sounds like a lot of fun and I can’t to learn more about it and try to tangle a bit myself 🙂 Maybe Cris can give me some online advice…

Thank you Cris for sending me such a lovely postcard and showing me a form of art I hadn’t heard anything about before.

Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2012: And so it continues with card #2 …

“Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will.” – A.W. Tozek

I just received my first card from the swap yesterday and today I already find the second one in my mailbox *yay*. And the image on it is soooo… CUTE! Absolutely adorable, don’t you think?!

From Kate (USA)

The creative mind behind this pretty postcard is Kate from the United States. Living in the Midwest she specializes in children’s art and has already illustrated her first children’s picture book (that’ll soon be published). And then she’s also trying to set up her own shop to sell her paintings and prints – while also being a full-time mom (!). You see, Kate is a really busy bee! Go, Kate!!! I’m curious to see how it will all pan out for you.

Just hop over to KMericks.com if you want to stay tuned for news from Kate as well.

Thank you again, for your lovely postcard!

Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap 2012: I received my first card today!

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life” – Pablo Picasso

Remember?! I told you about Kat Sloma`s “Liberate Your Art” postcard swap here. About a week ago she liberated the first batch of cards into the world and today I finally received my first card. It’s from Jan Smith, an artist from Essex, England. I’m so excited! Isn’t it a cool card?!

From Jan Smith (Essex, England)

Jan is a really crafty woman. You should pop over and take a look at her blog “Jan’s Arty Junk“! If you could see me right now, you’d see me grin like a Cheshire cat 🙂 I’m so happy, Jan’s postcard with the wonderful quote from Pablo Picasso on it’s back really made my day. I can’t wait to see what else I’ll find in my mailbox in the next few weeks…

Liberate Your Art 2012

Hi, hi, hi! There’s something I need to tell you…

I’ll be participating in Kat Sloma’s “Liberate Your Art” postcard swap this year. I’m so excited! There’re over 300 artist from all over the world taking part in it this year. I just received my postcards from moo.com (the swap is only for art-prints not originals). Ahh, I never had my art printed before *excitement bounce*! Taking full advatage of moo’s Printfinity option I got a different image on each one of my 20 ordered cards. The quality of the paper and print is amazing… some didn’t turn out that well though because I overphotoshopped the images and made a big mess of the colours – 😦 I’ll know better next time around.

Well, these are the five cards I chose for the swap:

On the back I wrote this little inspirational message:

Tomorrow I’m going to get everything in the mail to Kat. I hope my cards will make it in time. Of course I’ll keep you all posted on what’s happening during this little swap-adventure. I’m looking forward to find the first card from it in my mailbox in August.

Stay creative!
