SENT CARD #34: Wild Words: DACHSHUND (Wild Words Part 5)

I lost a dog in the mail. Of course not a real one but my “Wild Words: DACHSHUND” didn’t make it to its recipient Marieke in the Netherlands. I send it to her as postcrossing-card but while in transit the image side of the card got seperated from the backing with the address. Marieke only found the back side in her mailbox but not the front 😦

The poor dog that didn’t make it to its new home 😦

This is all Marieke found in her mailbox.

I’m so glad now that I always scan and photograph my outgoing mail because that way I was able to at least upload an image of it for her. I’m also having this postcard featuring the Dachshund-image printed at moo.com. I will be sending to her once I get it.

Art print of the “Wild Words: DACHSHUND” I’m having made at moo.com right now together with a few other pictures.

Well, in the future I’ll probably not send out any more selfmade postcards without an envelope – at least not the ones that consist of more than one piece of cardboard…

Wild Words: CHEETAH (Wild Words Part 4)

The fourth animal to join the “Wild Words” line-up is the CHEETAH. It sprinted all the way to Pucelilina’s/Julie’s mailbox in Belgium 🙂

Wild Words: PELICAN (Wild Words Series Part 3)

The Wild Words’ PELICAN went to Stephanie Blake, a fellow Mail Artist from Alabama. Over at IUOMA she had commented on the GORILLA I’d sent to arttower here in Germany, saying how much she loved it. So, knowing that she would like it I grabbed the PELICAN and mailed it to her 🙂 I think especially it’s envelope turned out fantastic!

Have a great Wednesday ;P

Wild Words: FLAMINGO (Wild Words Series Part 2)

Hi everyone! Happy Monday 😉

This  is the second piece out of my new mail art series “Wild Words”. I sent the FLAMINGO to Rachel Freeman-Irvin from Kansas. She is a wonderful collage artist and I’m the lucky recipient of two of her wonderful flower collages (don’t worry, I’ll show them two you in another post) Pop over to her blog Rachel Freeman Collage Art and take a peek at her work. It’s so pretty.

Well, this is the FLAMINGO I sent to her:

On my way home from work I had put together a much longer post for the FLAMINGO but now I think I should simply let the art speak for itself. I’ve always complained in school when we disected those wonderful works of art into microscopic pieces and pinned a meaning to each little fragment. I often doubt that artists have ever put as much of a message into their works as people try to interpret into them all the time. Sometimes there might be a larger and more complex message and sometimes – or most of the times – art is simply art and should not be burdened with so many words but simply be experienced. Art should make YOU think but you should not tell the artist what to think! I hope my little rant makes any sense to you. It’s just my opinion. What’s yours?

Between Ape and Man (“Wild Words” Series Part 1)

It’s the weekend again, yay. This is a piece of mail art I received from arttower, a fellow German mailartist 🙂 On the front it reads “und seine Erben” (“and his heirs”) and on the back “Experiment des Monats” (“experiment of the month”). The whole thing makes me think of the evolution of man, Darvinism and genetics. And you?

Well, thinking of monkeys, especially apes and us – humanity – as their heirs, I decided to sent this piece of mail art to arttower in return. It’s out of my new mail art series “Wild Words”: The GORILLA. Yes, I’m still into the typographic images lately ;P

I wish you a great weekend!
